hello there is Peter here again with
more tips and advice from writers life
now coming up today do you know who you
are writing for when you sit down to
write it's always a good idea to ask
yourself before you start who am i
writing for the answer may be obvious
and straightforward or it might be
elusive and complicated are you writing
for yourself do you have a very
particular person in mind do you want
your opinion or story to be heard by a
particular group do you want to be
acknowledged or perhaps you are just
writing for anyone who will listen of
course it can be a combination of many
of these things most writers would say
that they write both for themselves for
the love of creating stories and playing
with language and for their audiences
whoever they may be how important is it
to know who you are writing for most
writers would argue that it is
imperative indeed if you are hoping to
have commercial success having a target
audience in mind will help you to craft
and shape your writing so that it
appeals directly to them you might also
want to think about how to attract
readers from further afield not just the
lovers of the genre or the ones who
already agree with your opinion will
naturally gravitate towards your work
but those on the fringes too perhaps
those who you would think would have no
interest in what you have to say how do
you persuade these audiences to listen
to you or to take a chance on your
writing and just give it a go
how do you find the right balance
between being true to yourself your
motivations and passions and writing for
an audience telling them what they want
to hear the key to effective writing is
knowing your reader and being able to
accurately predict what they want and
what they expect and then adhering to
that or alternatively surprising them
showing them something new different are
more exciting than they have ever
anticipated before how to identify your
audience ask yourself the following
questions who do you hope will read this
write down who your ideal reader would
be give them a name a personality bring
them to life this person is your target
audience you need to discover how they
think what excites them what turns them
off get to know them as intimately as
possible and you will have the best
chance of getting them to see your
points of view engage with your
characters buy your product or do
whatever it is you are trying to
persuade them to do who else might read
this don't just limit yourself to your
ideal audience think further beyond them
think of all the places your book
article blog post or newsletter might
end up are there other people we might
reach that you haven't considered
how could you reach out to them and
connect with them further and more
effectively you also need to consider
what you are hoping to achieve by
communicating with your audience it
might be to sell products increase their
understanding of a particular topic to
get them to share your work to sign up
to a newsletter or it might be to
persuade them around to your way of
thinking to be moved or inspired by your
story or simply to enjoy your book your
aims are important because if you don't
fulfill them no matter how many people
you've reached you won't feel satisfied
that you have achieved what you set out
to achieve understanding who you are
writing for regardless of the type of
writing you are doing can make all the
difference when it comes to connecting
with your audience
creating a following and motivating them
to act so next time you sit down to
write make sure you consider who your
reader is and think about how you can
speak to
and don't forget if it's struggling to
write or finish your book our free
writers toolkit can help with it you'll
learn how to overcome procrastination
stay organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access to it now while it's still
available simply go to
that's it for

Hello its Peter here again from
righteous life to some more tips and
advice for writers and coming up today
are you a writer here are the signs
writers glow gets a case of the doubts
from time to time and when they are at
their worst we wonder whether we are cut
out for this writing life at all when we
start to procrastinate and haven't done
any writing in ages or we are suffering
from a case of writer's block it's easy
to start feeling like we should give up
however all it takes is a bit of time to
sit back and reflect and if you need a
bit of a boost to confirm you are a
writer take a look at these signs you
know you are a writer when you have
paper and pen by your bed late night
Eureka moments a brilliant idea just as
you're about to drift off crazy dreams
that make no sense when you read over
them in the morning whatever your
reasons you want to make sure you don't
miss those 3 a.m. bursts of inspiration
when you're not writing you are thinking
about it a lot ok so your whole life
doesn't have to revolve around your
writing but you do spend a hell of a lot
of time thinking about writing when
you're not doing it whether you're
mulling over a problematic plot point
talking to your characters or just seem
a little bits of inspiration in everyday
life writing tends to take over your
head space more often than not you write
when you should be working when you're
on holiday and may have even taken a
sick day to work on your latest projects
so you are dedicated to your day job and
all but there have been times when you
might have let your lunch break run over
so you can finish that chapter or have
decided to call in sick when you've only
got a bit of a cold so you can keep
writing
even on a holiday you can't help but
keep working on your projects so you
always stay in the writing zone when you
write time passes insanely quickly there
is nothing quite as surprising as been
in the writing zone and every writer
knows the feeling when they look up from
a writing session and hours have gone by
even though you could swear you only
started a few minutes ago everyone and
everything has the potential to end up
in your book the world is your
inspiration every time you step out to
the house you are on high alert eyes
wide open ears pricked up things you see
conversations and interactions you
overhear places you travel experiences
you have they all have the potential to
end up in your novel reading is your
most important hobby writers love to
read it is their most excellent source
of inspiration motivation and the best
way of learning how to improve you can't
really be a writer if you don't love to
read things you hate most in life
include a blank page editing your
finished novel talking about your
writing word counts showing versus
telling Amazon rankings and the dreaded
way to hear back from publishers your
computer or notebook is full of weird
and wonderful half-baked story ideas
characters even single sentences or
words that you'll get to one day and
turning to something brilliant probably
do any of the buff sound like you what
do you think makes someone a writer we'd
love to hear your comments below
and don't forget if you're struggling to
write or finish your novel our free
writers toolkit can help with it you'll
learn how to overcome procrastination
stay organized get motivated find time
to write and finally get your book
published to get access to it now simply

Hello and welcome to writer's life where
we bring you tips and advice for writers
I'm Peter and coming up today avoid
these freelance writing jobs when
starting as a freelance writer it can be
easy and tempting to take on jobs that
you shouldn't of course we can't dictate
to you what to take on but there is a
genuine problem with writers taking on
poorly defined unfairly demanding jobs
to build up their portfolio which means
that the business offering these jobs
will continue to think it's okay to
treat writers this way it's not just the
morning there are also people out there
who refuse to give you the right
information to get the job done and then
complain you did it wrong and those who
take far too long to pay you or who try
to avoid paying you at all as a
freelance writer it's easy to make
mistakes and so to make your life's less
stressful here are some kind of
freelance writing jobs then every writer
should avoid first ones that asks you
not to play your eyes there are so many
jobs out there that patronize writers
ones that specifically say no article
spinning or will know if you play your
eyes are already revealing themselves to
have no respect for writers okay we
understand that maybe they have had bad
experiences in the past but by
communicating with their writer asking
them about their experience of making
sure they are a good fit for the piece
of work it will become obvious whether
they are a serious credible writer or
one who will try to get away with using
someone else's work stating this in the
job ad suggests
inheritant distrust of writers from the
outset and spells shovel the head next
ones that pay less than the minimum wage
when you first start as a freelance
writer you might have to wait a while to
get the highest paid jobs however that
doesn't mean you should work for free or
get paid next to nothing for your copy
don't let businesses take advantage of
writers and refuse to accept jobs that
don't pay at least the minimum wage next
once it's are too vague and the
communication is bad another read fly is
a vague Job Description or one that
sounds too good to be true or when the
poster doesn't communicate well or
answer your questions in these instances
the job posting might be spam or it just
may indicate that the employer isn't
willing to give you enough information
for you to do the job well and next
one's where the employer is rude and
demanding no matter how inexperienced
you are employers should treat you with
respect they are hiring you to do a
service and if they are rude or overly
demanding from the outset they will
probably continue to be this way
throughout the project and you've got to
ask yourself whether it's worth it
next one's that compromised your morals
integrity or passions content is needed
for all sorts of things so find out what
you are most interested in and
passionate about and try to find jobs
that's aligned with that avoid writing
content that you don't agree with that
compromises your beliefs in some way all
that bores you
where's funning that by avoiding the
types of job mentioned in this video you
can start your freelance writing career
with your head
I can make sure you are doing honest
exciting work that makes you proud and
don't forget if it's struggling to write
or finish your book our free writers
toolkit can help with it you'll learn
how to overcome procrastination stay
focused get organized find time to write
and finally get your book published to
get access to it now while it's still
available simply go to

Hello there it's writers life and Peter
here again with some more tips and
advice for writers and coming up today
can you crowd fund your writing without
a budget for your book it can be
challenging to find the time to keep
going if you are fitting in writing
while trying to hold down a full-time
job it can be a massive challenge trying
to get to the end even if you do then
having the capacity of budget to market
your novel can also become problematic
but what if you could get other people
to fund your work so you could actually
pay yourself to do the research writing
and promotion of your book to give it
the best chance of success many people
think this is only possible if you find
a publisher we'll need to give you an
advance and take on the role of markets
of themselves however there are
alternatives and many authors are
looking to crowdfund their writing to
make it possible for them to complete
their work so how does crowdfunding work
crowdfunding allows a person who wants
to create something to pre-sell their
products to raise the necessary funds to
do so you as the author need to explain
why it's essential for your book to come
into existence how will it benefit
people
what's its USP being able to explain
this succinctly
and make your project sound worthwhile
is what will draw investors in when it
comes to crowdfunding a book authors
tend to steer clear of offering equity
in the projects as this can get
complicated
however offering investors some
incentive or reward is important a
mention enly forward or a copy of the
finished book works well some authors
have had fantastic success using
crowdfunding platforms to help raise a
budget to write their book some have
made hundreds of thousands of dollars
before they've had
a single book that sure beats waiting
for sales to trickle in to try and make
a money back and is better than lots of
publishers would offer to crowdfunding
your book also helps to build booths and
excitements around it and drape some
potential fanbase before your book hits
the shelves it also gives your book
validation before you write it if people
are willing to part with their
hard-earned cash because they believe in
your projects and you're managing your
crowdfunding goals then you know your
book is worth writing and having that
kind of confidence is pretty awesome
a successful crowd funded self-published
book is also going to be considered more
credible than one that isn't anyone can
press publish and get that book out on
Amazon these days however a book that
has persuaded enough people to pre buys
is social proof that can make all the
difference when you come to launch day
so if you're looking for a way to raise
money and awareness for your next
project perhaps crowdfunding is the way
to go have you considered crowdfunding
your novel why not let us know and don't
forget if he's struggling to write or
finish your book our free rights is to
kick and helm with it you'll learn how
to overcome procrastination stay focused
get organized find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access to it now while it's still
available simply go to
okay that's

Hello there is Peter here again with
some more tips and advice from writers
life and coming up today how to blend
fiction and nonfiction the idea of
blending fiction and nonfiction may seem
strange to some if you're writing a
novel you might draw on elements and
experiences from your real life but
actually switching the way you're right
so some parts of your book are
fictionalized is not a technique you
often come across however there are
particular types of books that can lend
themselves well to this technique and if
you're writing a book that's designed to
help people this can be a great way of
getting practical information across as
well as telling a story that draws
readers in and makes your book more
exciting and entertaining to read
business books self-help books any book
that is trying to deliver some lesson
can mix fiction and nonfiction to make
it more readable and to help those who
are interested in the book absorb the
information without it being too dry or
complicated so how can you do this begin
by planning people are on a constant
information overload these days so
finding ways to break down important
information and make it more interesting
and memorable is crucial design the
characters in your book so that they are
realistic but also engaging talk to
people in relevant industries to give
you inside information on what the
settings should be how people would
enter eyes how they will dress what
their interests would be and so on it's
essential to blend fictional characters
with the realities of whatever will they
inhabit say a particular business
next give characters or objects meaning
presenting information by telling a
story can not only keep your readers
interested but also make it easy for
them to grasp more complicated concepts
for example you could have each
character in your story being
representative of a particular
discipline or lesson or strength and by
the characters coming together they can

Hello its Peter here again from writers
life with more tips and advice for
writers and coming up today foolproof
writing methods that help you sell books
writing a book is challenging enough
however no matter how much blood sweat
and tears he has taken to finish your
novel selling it is another enormous
challenge altogether there are of course
numerous ways you can market your book
to help it sell but the one thing that
makes more difference than anything else
is writing it well having a mega
marketing can only get you so
far
if your book isn't structured correctly
you can't expect people to buy it
successful novels whether they are
revered at literary fiction or cheesy
but fun romance novels will all have
similar elements in the way their
stories unfold in fact when you read
widely enough you start to see patterns
emerge and no matter the genre there are
similarities the popular books all share
so what are these methods that must be
included if you want your book to sell
first the set up the set up is the first
part of your story this is where you
entice your readers in and make promises
to them of what to expect if they
continue to read your novel a set up
could give readers clues as to what kind
of story it is and what might happen you
can't start your story for example as a
comedy and then decide to turn it into a
serious drama at the end you should
invite readers into the world you have
created introduce them to your main
characters and give them insight into
their challenges passions desires and so
on without correctly setting up the
story readers can end up feeling letdown
might give up on your book or worse
still leave
less than glowing review annexed a
dramatic occurrence early on in any good
book something needs to happen something
big wait too long to include this or let
it unravel too gently and your readers
may feel as though your story isn't
going anywhere
an incident needs to happen one that
somehow changes the course of the
protagonists life and starts them on a
new journey one that your readers will
follow with intrigue the incident needs
to be big enough that the hero is
forever changed makes it impossible for
them to return to the life they want new
and next the obstacles every good writer
knows that a protagonist must set out to
do something whatever that may be must
be obvious what they want and what they
need to do to get it however this
journey must not be easy when the main
character or characters in your story
must overcome several challenges and
make sacrifices to achieve their goal in
a good story it's important to note that
there is not just one challenge or one
obstacle but many a protagonist must
fall and gets up several times before
the story is over the harder they fall
the more your reader will be urging them
to get up or willing them to reach their
goals this is how a reader is kept on
the edge of their seat and turning those
pages next the climax a book that sells
should take the reader on an
exhilarating ride there shall be ups and
downs moments of tension and action and
drama and resolution as you near the end
of the novel these all need to come
together in one great big finale the
climax climax needs to be the most
significant and most dramatic moment in
your novel where everything your hero
has been fighting for is at stake a good
climax will have your reader desperate
to see your hero see
and then in the final pages of your book
you can bring it back down tie up loose
ends and end your story in a truly
satisfying way nothing is more critical
when it comes to selling books than good
writing use these foolproof methods to
help you write a story that's sure to
leave readers leaving you a rave reviews
and clamoring for more and don't forget
if you're struggling to write or finish
your book our free writers toolkit can
help with it you'll learn how to
overcome procrastination stay focused

Hi there and welcome along to more tips
and advice for writers here on writers
life my name's Peter and today
struggling to finish your novel try
these strategies finishing your novel is
no mean feat and in fact most people
that attempt to write one never get to
the end if you are struggling to finish
your novel
don't let it defeat you for there's
nothing quite as satisfying as getting
it done
try these practical strategies to help
you first silence your inner critic
the most common reason writers don't
finish is because they end up self
sabotaging their own work they start off
feeling yourself they aren't good enough
and no matter how much they edit their
story or try to change parts of it they
just seem to be making it worse
eventually giving you're up on it
altogether feeling defeated and beating
themselves up because they don't feel
they've got what it takes
silencing the voice that tells you
you're not good enough is paramount to
your success how do you do this well
find encouragement from outside sources
have a positive mantra that you repeats
yourself every day and take a break from
your manuscript and come back when
you've got a fresh mindset find solace
in the knowledge that pretty much every
writer at some point feels the same
about their work become logical and
reasonable and don't expect perfection
of yourself there are many ways to
silence your inner critic
paying attention and making sure you do
will help give you the momentum you need
to get to the end and next stop
procrastinating another hugely common
reason for a person not to finish their
book is because of distraction people
get caught up in all the other things
they have to do with their lives taking
care of their families their day job
checking social media save that picture
they posted of their dog in a jumper
gets lots of likes whatever it is that
keeps you from writing you need to find
ways to stop letting it take over have a
dedicated writing time when your family
aren't allowed to disturb you get into a
writing routine where you get up an hour
earlier so you can write before you go
to work turn off all your devices before
you sit down to write whatever it takes
to eliminate procrastination do it
otherwise you'll never finish your book
gets clarity even if you manage to
silence your inner critic and stop
procrastinating you still might face
another big problem that can kill at
your story before you get it to the end
and that's simply becoming confused if
you start to get muddled and write but
don't really know where your story is
going it's easy to run out of ideas and
out of steam properly prepare for
writing a novel before you start have
your entire story mapped out do your
research
sketch out chapter outlines get to know
your characters the more planning you do
the less likely that confusion will be a
problem and the more determination
you'll have to finish your book be brave
the final reason that a writer might
stop writing is fear this is different
to the inner critic because it's not
necessarily about thinking your work
isn't good enough it's just fear of the
unknown and making yourself appear
vulnerable of sharing your thoughts and
feelings with the world
writing isn't for cowards but
remembering what motivates you to write
and that having the courage of your
convictions to do so will pay off in the
end
finishing your book is a considerable
challenge but the rewards for doing so
is immense so if you're struggling to
end your novel use the strategies that
we've mentioned today to help you push
over the finish line and don't forget if
you're struggling to write and finish
your book
why not try our free writers toolkit it
will certainly help you with it
you'll find out how to overcome
procrastination get organized stay
motivated and find time to write to get
access to it now simply go to

that's it for now be sure to give us a

hi it's Peter here again from a writer's
lifeless war to spend my advice this
time where she might be self-sabotage
your writing career one thing many
writers have in common is their ability
to self-sabotage writers could often be
so unfairly negative about themselves on
their work it's as if they are their own
worst enemy
barley obvious negative effects this has
on what self-esteem this self-sabotage
also naturally has an effect on a
writer's ability to succeed having put
so much time and energy into your work
do something super something of a shame
if you are the one who gets in the way
of your own success be open to the
possibility of actually the successful
reason is so important it's not just
about look or even about talent is also
having a positive mindset and the
determination to equal even when the
chip somehow so what are the signs to
account for which may suggest or
sabotaging your writing career here are
some of the most dominant first you've
fallen out of love you're right gone are
the days when you felt excited and
elated
every time you sat down to
lately and feels so much more force your
stories like the passion and flow of
earlier times and you keep getting
distracted or fighting any excuse to
leave your work and go and do something
else if this sounds like new you need to
think about what might because you need
to feel this way if you can understand
the causes to why you're writing to
fulfill useful used to you can tackle it
head-on
make a list of all the things you love
about writing and all the obstacles and
stop you from doing it more enjoying it
as you should focus on what makes you
happy and don't worry about the rest
you've lost confidence in your own
ability to write if you've started to
feel negative and writing ability then
everything you write seems terrible this
negativity is bound to have an impact on
the quality of your writing overall
perhaps it's time to reassess how you
critique your work are you too hard on
yourself or perhaps you need to go back
to basics and start again but you see a
great piece of writing is a slower layer
process but it's essential that you
remain confident
you're suffering from the shredder
rights if you simply can't find any
inspiration and every time you sit down
to write your mind goes blank
there will be an underlying reason that
has locked you in a downward spiral
when you need to get yourself out of it
before your career starts over
it's hard to be creative when you are
feeling stressed or anxious so try to
find ways to clear your mind and relax
so that you have the necessary freedom
to write find inspiration by joining a
write taking up a new hobby traveling or
just experimenting with writing
to see if taking it in a new direction
reinvigoration what's next when you do
get some interest worried
if an agent of publishers interesting
it's important to accept this as an
awesome some writers end up
self-sabotage by immediately finding and
the enormity of finishing that book or
making suggested revisions too
overwhelming they feel like an impostor
becomes suspicious and uncertain man s
will be hated publishes so much and
eventually the deal falls through
remember if you do get interest you're
in a considerable minority it's okay to
be nervous but try to be calm and
professional and stay confident in your
ability to get the job done next you
finish your work and never sent it off a
classic sign of a writer self-sabotage
is that dusty old manuscript that six
rounded in shape at the bottom of the
desk
all those many draft emails to agents
publishers that have been sitting ready
to go through months if you love finish
your work spent a sensible amount of
time or forward so on anything it and
crafting a solid submission letter it's
time to let it go
you are probably never going to tell
your work these perfect or good in for
submit but if you want to stand a chance
there has to be employed to where you're
letting go if you're self sabotaging
your writing through here it's time to
figure out why once you start giving it
thought the reason should become pretty
clear so just listen to yourself your
instincts and try to nip it in the bud
as soon as and don't forget if it
struggling to write or finish a book our
free rights is talking can help with it
you'll learn how to overcome
procrastination stay for
organized finds her to write but finally
forget the oldest to gain access to a
power it's still available simply go to

Peter and I'll be back with more tips
and advice here on writers life and soon

Hello there is Peter here again with
more tips and advice for writers from
writers life and coming up this time
writing your life story here's how to
get started if you think your life would
make very interesting reading then
turning it into a story or writing a
memoir can be an exciting and rewarding
challenge writing your life story
however may not be as easy as it seems
on the one hand you've got all the
information there and you've got an
inside perspective to everything that
happened making it easy for you to tell
the tale from a unique perspective
however you still have to work hard to
get your audience on board and once you
get started you'll soon realize it's not
as easy as simply transferring all your
memories down onto a Word document if
you want your story to be read and
appreciated by others there are lots of
things you need to think about so here's
how to get started first get everything
down in the beginning you just need to
get everything down don't worry about
timelines continuity or even making it
sound that good just literally jot down
or map out all the significant parts of
your life that you want to include in
your book and then begin to flesh them
out next get organized now it's time to
get organized think about how you want
to present your life story will events
unfold chronologically or will you group
parts of your life together according to
particular themes decide which direction
you want to go in and start organizing
your content to begin to shape your book
next be honest when it comes down to
writing your life story you should be
honest with your reader and yourself -
tapping into raw and often brutal
emotions and
memories is often the way to get the
best material and though it might seem
painful and scary will make your book
resonate with more people and your
bravery will be admired
next do your research just because it's
your stories and memories doesn't mean
you don't have to do your research
you'll no doubt write about other people
in your memoir so where you can make
sure you talk to them discuss the
memories or versions of events you have
and see if they match up next consider
the reader remember that it's essential
to consider your reader at all time what
may seem interesting as significant to
you might not be so much to them so
always think about how to tell your
story as if you were hearing it for the
first time and didn't know any of the
people or the history behind it how can
you make your story have an impact on
people how can you make them care an X
you x' poetic license sometimes the need
to embellish certain aspects of a
real-life story becomes apparent and
that's okay if you want to get creative
and change the outcome or the unfolding
of specific events the author's every
right to do so if you think he will
please your reader and make for a better
tale however just remember if you are
positioning your story as a work of
complete truth you do need to be careful
here if your readers find out you have
twisted certain events or haven't been
completely honest they could end up
feeling cheated and letdown writing your
life story can be hugely cathartic and
rewarding and can be a great way to
become a successful writer too so if you
think your life stories worth telling
follow these tips and get started today
and remember if you're struggling to
write or finish your book our free write
is talking can help with it your
how to overcome procrastination get
organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access to it now while it's still
available simply go to

Hello there  this is Peter here again
from writers life and coming up this
time how to always write your best work
sometimes writers can get so caught up
with the idea of being perfect that they
sabotage their chances of success the
problem with putting that much pressure
on ourselves is that we are never going
to live up to our expectations our
writing can't be flawless
it can't be perfect and as soon as we
get rid of that idea then we can always
write our very best work remember there
is no such thing as a bad idea when you
have an idea for your story it can be so
easy to get excited to rush home to
start writing only to realize as you
begin to unpick it that it's a terrible
idea that will never ever work well
perhaps you are wrong at least sort of
wrong there is no such thing as a bad
idea ideas are like rivers they are
fluid they change them flow and can turn
into something completely different your
idea may not work as it is wholly suck
to the light turn it around in your mind
at something take something away
inspecting from every angle chances are
if it's got your heart racing initially
there is something that there is worth
hanging on to bad writing is just a work
in progress
you are always writing your best because
that's the best you can do at the time
if you look back at it all and roll your
eyes and groan then take a moment and
step back and stop being so harsh on
yourself there might be room for
improvement sure but writers could
always learn and grow
it's important to respect the fact that
when we write we are doing our best and
therefore it is our best at that point
it doesn't need to be scorned or mocked
afterwards instead to be nurtured and
molded and gently pushed to become
something better it's all about having
the right mindset you can't write your
best if you're going to continue to be
cynical about your writing especially if
you are always in a negative mindset
before you begin treat yourself like you
would do a child you would be
encouraging supportive and sympathetic
and if you could tell they were trying
their best you'll be proud of them if
you could only treat your writing self
that way and get into a positive and
productive mindset before you stop and
allow yourself to be genuinely
creatively free if you could achieve
this you will always write your best and
you should be proud of the results
whatever they are as well
writing your best isn't about writing
correctly it isn't about creating
Christine everfree stories that are
already amazing writing your best is
about trying your best putting your
heart and soul and passion into your
work every time you sit down to write so
stop focusing on trying to make it
flawless and just do your best that's
what really matters after all and don't
forget if you're struggling to write or
finish your book our free writers
toolkit can help with it you'll learn
how to overcome procrastination get

Hello there is Peter here again with
more tips and advice for writers welcome
to writer's life and coming up today how
to be a more productive writer in 2019
at the start of the new year it's time
to put strategies in place to improve
our writing and make it even better in
the year ahead one common problem that
so many writers struggle with is just
not getting enough done procrastination
distractions and not having enough time
or or obstacles to face when trying to
be a more productive writer
however feeling as though you are doing
as much writing as you can is not only
satisfying but will also help you
improve your craft as well writing
productively however isn't just about
writing lots it's about writing well and
trying to get into a habit of doing so
is even trickier here then are some
practical strategies to help you be a
more productive writer in 2019 first get
into a rhythm all writers are different
and only you know when you are at your
writing best don't just guess it
experiment with writing at different
times in different spaces when you were
in different moods it might be like you
fight you do your best work after a run
first thing in the morning or you might
find getting it too comfy close with a
big mug of coffee and a plate of
biscuits and the afternoon
is when you feel most creative whatever
works for you is what works best and
once you're in that rhythm that's when
you are at your most productive next
it's all about habits getting into a
writing routine is essential when it
comes to productivity without doing so
it's extremely difficult to write well
consistently once you have figured out
your peak writing times you need to
build a realistic but demanding writing
schedule around them and then make sure
you stick to it once you've gone into
your writing routine it'll become second
nature make sure you continue to
prioritize it though because if you're
letting slip you have to work hard to
get back into it again next get some
headspace some writers love to write in
amongst the chaos or find that they can
only write when out somewhere in the
hustle and bustle of life and that's
great other writers however need to have
things calm and ordered to write and any
sign of clutter gets them totally
distracted there's no right answer but
understanding what kind of setting makes
your brain feel most into MIDI or create
yourself that's the place you should
write next practice before you start do
a righty warm-up before you start every
session by getting into the practice of
free writing this is where you write
about anything that comes into your head
no restrictions no judgement doing this
for just a few minutes at a time can
help you get rid of that muddle of the
day and get you ready and focus to write
at your best and next keep it short
don't make your writing sessions
painfully long otherwise you'll end up
just writing nonsense to fill up the
pages if you want to write it your most
productively
keep session short and always end when
you feel as though you have more to say
and next don't critic your own work not
at the start anyway make a rule that you
are not allowed to go back and read over
what you've written until at least a
week later instead focus on getting that
story down it's so easy to get caught up
in editing in the early stages but we
can ruin our own stories or run out of
steam too early more likely to be your
own worst critic so just let your
writing rest for a while before you go
back and chop it to pieces and next
congratulate yourself remember to give
yourself praise keeping your momentum
going is all about having a positive
mindset and making sure you're in good
spirits so take the time to congratulate
and reward yourself every time you get
one step closer to achieve it your
writing goals so what do you do to stay

Hello there is Peter here a game from
writers life and coming up in this video
what makes writers happy at the end of
the year it's always a good time to try
and sit back and reflect on the good and
the bad and any lessons learned over the
past 12 months
one thing that perhaps writers don't
think about enough is what makes them
happy and keeping this in mind is key to
being a productive and motivates of
writer so what the writers say makes
them happiest here are some of the most
common responses first writing for many
of us the pure pleasures we get from
writing alone can be enough to make
every day a great one
writing can be so cathartic and when we
take our ideas and turn them into
stories when we see our characters come
into life and the plots unraveling
before our eyes it makes us realize just
how rewarding a job it can be next
finishing there's nothing quite as
enjoyable as writing up final sentence
and realizing you mail it you've got to
the end the sense of pride and
satisfaction that comes from completing
a piece of writing really is hard to
beat a next feedback getting positive
feedback from your readers is another
element to any writers role that can
really make their day getting a great
review or a reader reaching out to tell
you how much they enjoy your work makes
all that hard grit the determination the
time and effort so worthwhile a next
improving one of the beautiful things
about writing is that there's always
more to learn when writers look back to
where they start
perhaps just to the first draft of their
story and see how far they've come and
how much they've improved it really can
make all the difference
getting published is next ah to be
published for many writers being
published is the ultimate goal and
whether they do it via the traditional
or self-publishing route seeing their
work in print is the most glorious
feeling of all next following their
dreams
one thing that universally makes all
writers happy is the knowledge that they
are following their dreams the fact that
they have bothered sometimes against
what feels like pretty enormous
obstacles to persevere to stick it out
and to keep writing because writing is
what they love to do and means that deep
down they know that they believe in
themselves and that is something to
celebrate and to be so proud of too so
what makes you happy as a writer
