Hello there is Peter here again from
WritersLife.org and coming up today how to
enjoy your writing time more when it
comes to writing advice much amount of
time is spent learning how to get better
accepting how to take criticism and
hearing about what a struggle being in
the writing game is weary countless
articles about how difficult it is to
write and how impossible it is to get
published it's no wonder this can have
an impact on how much we enjoy our
writing but if we aren't enjoying it
what's the points in doing it so here
are some useful tips on how to better
appreciate the process of writing itself
first forget about the end goal when it
comes to writing it's important to enjoy
the process if you keep focusing on the
end goal of getting your book published
you could end up putting yourself under
too much pressure or feeling like you
are setting yourself an impossible task
before you even begin so focus on the
process of writing of the pleasure of
crafting your story and you'll enjoy it
so much more next get lost in your world
writing is a beautiful way to express
your creativity and create worlds and
characters that are imaginative and
powerful that we can use as vehicles to
express ourselves try to get lost in
your world to tap into your most
creative and imaginative self and
recognize or genuinely cathartic that is
a next start small remember writing is a
process and if we try to do too much too
soon you'll only end up feeling like a
failure you can teach yourself how to
get better at writing
take pleasure in the practice give
yourself small goals and congratulating
us
as you improve and hit new milestones
along the way
the next creates a writing of routine
writing will always be a struggle if you
don't make it part of your routine while
it may be tough at first it's so worth
trying to write everyday or following a
weekly writing schedule to ensure you'll
keep up with doing it regularly once
writing becomes part of your life it
will feel natural and relaxed and become
so much more enjoyable as a result
remember the more you do something the
easier it gets
the next have a different perspective
instead of focusing on yourself and how
much you are enjoying your writing
instead why not try to focus on what you
can do to make the reading experience
the best it can be for your reader this
switch in perspective can help you feel
as though you are doing something
selfless and in doing so you are about
to feel good about yourself and how your
writing improves too by following these
tips you can turn writing from a
stressful and pressured experience into
one that you enjoy and since writing
takes time and effort to do correctly
it's essential that you do feel positive
about it in the long run and the more
you enjoy your writing the better and
more natural it will become what do you
do to make the process of writing more
enjoyable why not share your comments
below the video and don't forget if
you're struggling to write or finish
your book our free writer's toolkit can
help with it you'll learn how to
overcome procrastination get organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access now while it's still available

Hello there it's Peter here again from
writers life and coming up today how to
keep your writing simple it's so easy to
make writing overly complicated and one
of the great dangers writers can come up
against is trying to make their work
expressive and creative without being
overwritten while one might think it's
harder to make writing complicated than
it is to keep things simple because
writers want their readers to see to
believe and to feel everything about
their world and their characters within
it it is in fact all too easy to create
overly complicated and even confusing
prose so how can you avoid this first
don't use five words when you can use
one it's easy to use too many words when
trying to describe our characters and
the worlds that they inhabit we so
desperately want the reader to imagine
it sometimes we ruin it by describing
things too much not allowing them the
reader to use their own imaginations
telling them instead of showing them and
giving huge descriptions instead of
choosing the best words to explain
succinctly and accurately what we need
the readers are no and nest don't keep
switching points of view
changing points of view over and over
again is only going to confuse your
reader and possibly even yourself as the
author stick to one point of view or
switch character points of view when you
begin a new chapter and next use time
carefully going back and forth in time
can add layers and depth to your story
however if you choose not to keep time
Linnea make sure you're smart and clear
about it if you keep jumping forwards
and backwards each time your reader will
soon get confused and quickly lose
interest and next what does the reader
need to know when you are writing you
should always have the reader in mind
look at what you have written and be
honest with yourself about what the
reader needs to know kill your darlings
cut unnecessary words paragraphs scenes
junctures and even characters if they
aren't important to your story make
every word count is next your book can't
go on forever even the longest books
have a finite amount of words so it's
imperative to make each one of them
account if you find yourself writing for
the sake of it
or to draw out a scene to boost your
work out you are almost certainly making
your writing too complicated
next use he said and she said many
writers fall into the trap of adding
unnecessary adverbs after a character
has spoken
dumb too many times and this distracts
the reader from the story in most cases
are simple he said or she said will do
these tips are ideal for writers looking
to simplify and neaten up their writing
writing that is direct smart and
interesting is so much more likely to
capture reader's attention the writing
that is convoluted complicated and
overly
relative so next time you sit down to
write keep in mind these tips to keep
your writing simple straightforward and
ultimately far more effective and don't
forget if it's struggling to write or
finish your book our free writer's
toolkit can help with it you'll learn
how to overcome procrastination get
focused stay organized find time to
write and finally get your book

Hello there is Peter here again from
writers life and coming up today how do
I great feature articles if you're
hoping to make money from writing
feature articles and you need to
understand how if you become great and
writing feature articles and get a
consistent flow of work it can make you
a healthy and very rewarding living why
you must remember however is that
competition is fierce and getting to
that highly desirable point where you
have a regular income from your writing
isn't easy these easy to follow tips
will help you write fantastic feature
articles that are likely to get you
noticed and here's tip number one
understand your audience find out who
your reader is and learn about them
really think about who the person is
what do they like to do where do they
like to shop where do they live work and
hang out
understanding your reader as a real
person gives you insight into what they
are likely to read and what kind of
information will interest them if he can
do this and tailor your writing
accordingly it will have a clear
direction and appeal to those readers
you are hoping to interest and tip
number two is know what your point is
this may sound obvious but have you
really had a good think about what you
are trying to get across what kind of
reaction are you hoping the reader to
have once they have finished reading
your piece are you try to motivate them
to act to buy something to change their
mind are you trying to make them feel
happy angry
excited or sad having a clear idea of
your end goal is hugely important and
will help you write your piece with ease
tip number three is research the
publication if you have a great idea for
a feature article don't simply write it
and send it off to as many magazines and
newspapers as you can in the hope that
someone will bite take your time to
research who will be best suited to
feature your article find out who the
right person is to send your work to
make your polite inquiry first you don't
want to annoy editors by wasting that
time as there may be people you hope to
work with in the future
so approach publications in the right
way and you stand a much better chance
of seeing your work in print tip number
four is think about your tone make sure
your article is interesting and engaging
a clever writer can turn even the
dullest topic into an interesting read
and if you're writing feature articles
each and every one should have a clear
point an attention-grabbing headline and
well-written well structured content
that discusses the points in an
informative and an engaging way and
finally tip number five get ready for
feedback and questions once your article
has been published you can just sit back
and relax it is now easy for anyone and
everyone to have an opinion on your work
you may be complimented criticized
subjects of ridicule make sure you are
prepared for that it's also a good idea
to preempt any questions that may come
up as a result of your work get ready to
answer them thoroughly back up your
points and explain your claims being
proactive before your work is published
saves any delay or panic if you're
suddenly inundated with
about it afterwards by following these
steps you should have find that you have
produced a great article one which is
written in the correct zone and style
for your audience that gets their
attention and engages them and one which
is suitable for the publication you are
sending it to if you do this each and
every time you're right
you are sure to start seeing your
published work outlet in no time and
don't forget if he's struggling to write

Hello it's Peter here again from writerslife.org
and today we're going to talk about how
to avoid writing cliches it can be
pretty tough to write an entire novel
without slipping into certain cliches
however there's not much that will turn
your reader off faster cliches tend to
interrupt the flow of the story and show
an absolute lack of imagination and
creativity from the writer if you are
trying to get a publishing deal and your
book is full of cliches not only in your
writing but also using a cliched an idea
no publisher is going to bind it's not
easy to avoid writing cliches altogether
and often we use them without even
noticing we're doing it so how can we
weed them out or better still prevent
them entirely here are some useful tips
first don't steal other writers ideas
some plots have just been done to death
and they have been written and rewritten
so many times it's almost impossible to
avoid falling into the trap of a cliche
if you choose to focus your story around
them when writing a book your idea needs
to be unique make publishers editors and
most importantly your readers sit up and
take notice of something that hasn't
been done before next avoid being overly
sensational there is a myriad of moving
subjects to choose from when writing a
book and lots of great books have murder
car crashes bombs going off Wars descent
into madness and so on as part of their
plots
however these sensational subjects can
be challenging to write without falling
into cliches this doesn't mean you can't
tell stories that include
these elements but what do you do pay
attention pay particular attention to
your writing and be alert for any
cliches that may appear and next make
the ordinary extraordinary one good way
of avoiding cliched writing is by
turning everyday events and occurrences
it's a beautiful you need unusual
life-changing adventures it's more of a
challenge but by focusing on smaller
more unusual things that happen in
everyday life or taking something that
we are all familiar with yet making it
suddenly breathtaking or extraordinary
is a great skill to have as a writer and
next tell your story the way you want to
no one can tell your story or share your
experiences the way you do if you
continue to write cliches it suggests
that you are not being honest with
yourself you have a unique perspective
and an original voice tap into that use
it instead of borrowing from others or
retelling a story that wasn't yours to
tell in the first place and next be
authentic cliched writing often becomes
that way because it's not true to real
life try to avoid injecting your book
with melodrama when it's not necessary
you'll only end up creating a story that
doesn't resonate with an audience and
lacks the authenticity necessary to
connect with your readers by using these
tips you can eliminate cliches from your
writing and create powerfully original
stories that really are entirely
different than anything else and don't
forget if you're struggling to write or
finish your book our free writers
toolkit can help with it you'll learn
how to overcome procrastination
yet organized stay focused find time to
write and finally get your book
published to get access now while it's
still available simply go to

Hello its Peter here again from
WritersLife.org and coming up today five
tips to create a brilliant novel degrees
a brilliant novel you need to tell a
brilliant story it really is as simple
as that but how I can hear you cry
telling a great story comes down to five
simple rules if you follow these there
is no reason why your story won't be
considered fantastic and we are talking
about the opinions of prospective
publishers and agents not just your
grammar so how do you create a brilliant
novel one which is fast paced moving and
original you need to show a publisher
that you have knowledge that you have
authority and an understanding of what
your audience wants if you can do this
successfully you are sure to impress so
here are five great tips to help you on
your way
tip number one make your story a sense
sensation your characters need to be
believable and engaging your
descriptions need to be delightful and
imaginative the five senses play a
crucial part in involving your audience
in your story giving it texture and
depth we want to see what they see hear
what they hear feel what they feel if
you omit this from your story it will
fall flat and our next tip is be odd
erratic haunting and idiosyncratic to
create believable and interesting
characters they need to behave a certain
way simple straightforward characters
who look nice and
nice and say nice things are only useful
in your story if they are there to
create a stark contrast between
themselves and other more important
characters in your book make your
characters irrational give them unusual
appearances quirks tics hobbies but do
it softly your readers need to
understand your character's motivation
for behaving in the ways that they do
they like weird but they will want to
understand why it is easy to emphasize
with people's irrational behavior we all
act like this from time to time so make
sure you allow your characters to do so
too otherwise they may well come across
as rather dull tip number three be free
one of the greatest difficulties writers
face is themselves
we are obstructive negative and often
downright cruel to create a brilliant
novel you need to free yourself from
yourself allow yourself to explore scary
sad mad parts of your own being really
getting there go deep and inspect all
the ugly things that you don't like to
show to anyone else then use them if you
are daring in your writing it will be
exciting if you are honest with your
feelings
it can lead to some uncomfortable
moments but if you channel it all into
your writing and refuse to be
self-conscious or restrained then you
can produce some great content and next
be clever if you have an idea for a
story that is complicated and
intelligent don't shy away from it
because you are worried it won't appeal
to a mass-market the truth is that most
avid readers are educated and affluent
and these people are more likely to buy
a book that appeals to their Intel
Agence a publisher is far more likely to
be excited about a book that presents a
clever idea
rather than one that is clearly dumbed
down simply to try and appeal to the
lowest common denominator don't insult
your readers don't underestimate them
people like to be challenged they like
to escape resist the need to over
explain everything
it makes for awkward and slow prose use
your words carefully and selectively
to portray what you mean and have faith
that your readers will get it and number
five make them laugh and make them cry
one of the most important things to
achieve when creating a great novel is
getting your reaction from your reader
your book should make them feel
something if you are writing a funny
story then aim to make your readers not
just smile or half chuckle but bend over
in gasping and embarrassing hysterics on
the train if your story is sad for yes.i
or solitary tear have them sobbing
snotty and heartbroken if you can evoke
your design response from the reader
you're doing something right if you can
make them both laugh and cry you are on
to a winner agents and editors are
highly skilled when it comes to seeing
the weaknesses in a story but they will
also forgive many flaws if an author
shows bravery and skill follow the tips
which I've given you here to engage your
audience to be true to yourself and
hopefully creates a brilliant novel in
the process and don't forget if you're
struggling to write or finish your book
our free writers toolkit can help with
it you'll learn how to overcome
procrastination get organized stay
focused find time to write and finally
get your book published to get access
now while it's still available simply go

Hello there is Peter here again from
WritersLife.org and coming up today five
things you didn't know about being a
freelance writer you may think that
being a freelance writer is a bit of a
doddle you imagine endless days of
sitting in coffee shops typing away on
your laptop without a care in the world
while watching the big books roll in
however this is rarely the case being a
freelance writer or rather being a good
freelance writer as with any job
requires hard work dedication and a
whole lot of effort similarly there is
no need to be put off by the idea scare
stories of over where writers constantly
struggling to meet deadlines and never
see in the light of day as they try and
scrape enough money together to keep a
roof over their heads while being
shouted up by editors every minute of
every day is equally unrealistic the
fact is providing you are willing to
work with it and hone your craft there
is no reason why you can't become a
successful writer and reap all the
rewards that go with it so what is the
middle ground what is it really like to
be a freelance writer can you achieve a
work/life balance can you really make a
decent living well yes of course you can
but before you decide let's look at some
of the common assumptions so you can see
if being a freelance writer is really
for you first you don't have to get
dressed all day
so if you are working from home most of
the time you may feel there's no reason
to do anything other than start your
working day by reaching for your laptop
in bed and beginning to write you are
your own boss after all so the dress
code is up to you however if you want to
take your job seriously then it's a good
idea to treat it like one that means
getting up getting dressed okay
so you don't have to put a suit and pack
your briefcase but some clothes that
aren't pajamas will help and sitting in
a work ready space before you begin you
are a professional and should act by one
motivating yourself to do a great job
and work productively is going to be
tough if you can't even be bothered to
get out of bed and next you'll be rich
as with any career some people become
hugely successful others fail and fall
into debt but for the majority of us
there tends to be a ratio the more time
and effort we put in the better we'll do
you can't exactly work your way up the
ladder or decide to give yourself a
massive pay rise but you can spend time
learning how to write effectively find
your niche and become an authority on
something build up your experience and
slowly but surely you'll be able to
pitch for bigger more lucrative jobs
feel confident in your value become a
good negotiator
and that's when you'll start to see the
financial rewards
you'll be stress-free so you are working
for yourself which effectively means you
don't have a boss that can dump a load
of work on you right before you go on
holiday and shout to you for taking a
longer lunch break then you're supposed
to however working for yourself has his
own precious and if you are a freelancer
you'll have clients clients who you work
for who are paying you to do a good job
and do it on time if you don't do this
not only will the stress of your
workload become unmanageable
you'll lose clients and get a bad name
in the industry too next you can do what
you want when you want freelancing does
bring with it a certain flexibility but
if this is your full-time job you can't
just pick and choose a few convenient
hours every week when you're feeling at
your most creative you'll have deadlines
you'll want great jobs that mean working
all the hours that God sends for a while
and you'll have up the evenings and
weekends where you've got to make up for
the times you weren't being quite so
productive suddenly instead of working
Monday to Friday and getting nice paid
holidays you've got to manage all your
own time and if you choose not to work
you don't make any money so the pressure
to do so will be all the more constant
and next it won't feel like work doing
something you love is amazing and a
privilege so if you're a successful
freelance writer and it's what you want
to do then you will enjoy your work and
get great satisfaction from doing it it
is however still work and when you have
been typing in your laptop for 6 hours
straight
it will definitely feel that way to
remember that going freelance isn't just
about
writing you've got to constantly pitch
for jobs do research send invoices chase
invoices do your tax returns and keep
track of every single piece of work
you've got to get done and when you are
your own boss but you are also your
accountant admin assistant and HR
manager so you better be prepared for
that being a freelance writer is hard
you've got to love it
you've got to work at it and you've got
to be realistic about it if you can do
all that then it can be a wonderfully
rewarding career and don't forget if
you're struggling to write or finish
your book our free writers toolkit can
help with it you'll learn how to
overcome procrastination get organized
stay focused find the time to write them
finally get your book published to get
access to it now while it's still
available simply go to

Hello there is Peter here again from
writers life coming up today how to
write multiple points of view writing a
book with multiple points of view is one
of the most challenging ways to tell a
story and requires doodling and bouncing
various personalities points of view and
motivations as well as the ability to
pull these together to create a
narrative that not only makes sense but
is compelling and read worthy - however
done right and using multiple points of
view can provide added layers of insight
and intrigue to a story they can be a
smart and insightful way to widen the
readers perspective and allow them to
get to know multiple characters in more
depth before you get started it's
essential to make sure that telling your
story from multiple points of view is
the right decision list the reasons why
your story will benefit from using this
narrative device and be clear on why
this will enhance your story for example
by giving your reader a broader insight
into the into the world you are creating
or allowing different secrets to come
out through the different perspectives
giving the reader information that other
characters in the story do not have once
you have decided to go ahead and use
multiple points of view here are some
useful tips to ensure you make this as
effective as possible first be clear and
distinct when switching point of view
there's nothing worse than confusing
your reader and the danger of doing so
is far greater when using multiple
points of view be very clear when you
are switching from the perspective of
one character to another only changing
when beginning a new chapter is usually
a more natural way to keep switches
defined and easy to follow
next have distinct characters and voices
if you're using multiple points of view
make sure that they are all distinctive
and exciting enough to stand alone in
your story each character should have a
unique voice and personality that feels
utterly separate from the others and
next make everyone as important as each
other each point of view needs to come
from a character that's the hero of
their own story give equal importance to
each character and make sure that they
all have their journeys struggles
conflicts and obstacles to overcome
which make the reader interested in them
and want to hear more from their own
point of view next don't repeat the same
scenes over and over telling the same
scene from each character's point of
view runs the risk of boring your reader
and not allowing the story to move
forward of course there are times when
it is essential to reveal the same scene
from a different characters perspective
but unless truly necessary to the plot
try to avoid this next plan plot and
have a good strategy there needs to be a
reason you are using a particular
character to reveal a specific scene ask
yourself why that character works best
to tell that part of the story what
insight they bring and make sure that
they are the best man all best woman for
the job planning how the points of view
will come together and which character
to use to tell which bit of the story
will make sure things don't get confused
and that there are no inconsistencies in
your story either writing from multiple
points of view is tough but done right
can be incredibly smart and a useful
device to intrigue your reader to bring
different levels to your story and to
give the reader a whole cast of
characters to fall in love with if
